Another Proof of Retardedness

Lately, I felt complacent towards the invading Nerds from last semester. It's possible that the lack of anything productive to do this semester has led me to fail to rectify the situation, as I had said I would do last semester. (ie. kick the living crap out of each and every one of them bastards.) Anyway, it's over. All my peers have left or are leaving. The fight has ended before it started.

Or has it...?

Today has been slightly stressful (compared to the usual background level of non-stressed-ness) because I was frantically trying to finish an assignment for this afternoon. After all, I have to get the highest marks possible out of this course, otherwise no one would be impressed by any mark less than an 80%... for one course... the entire semester... when I had nothing else to do...

Nonetheless, I chose SUMS to complete my assignment, as my ritual dictates. (Either SUMS or at home. Never in the library.) In any case, the most disgusting place on campus is ironically an almost homey feel to it because of my history and familiarity with it.

Of course, SUMS has been invaded by the UBER-NERDS of HELL since the beginning of the school year. So I have to tolerate their stinky, sweaty, phlegmy, dirty, rude, inconsiderate, and downright irritating habits while I attempt to concentrate on solving one particularly annoying assignment problem.

Also, lately there has been a breaking out of beer during random chess games (???) by a few, and more unfinishe4d lunches hanging around, so everything's even stickier and more disgusting than ever.

By some strange coincidence, all this stuff happens to pile up on the table I wanted to work on. So I promptly push it to one side, onto the pile of chess pieces and other "toys" no one takes care of in this room.

One drunk bozo decides to take some of this garbage off the pile to play chess, and tosses it onto my homework.

Naturally, I get very angry and tell him to pick it up and throw it out. For some reason, he lacked the common sense to apologize and throw it out, instead just blankly staring at it and then took the offending material and tossed it aside some more. I then repeat that he should throw it out, taking some responsibility to this offence. He decides to do it later anyway, much to my chagrin, while the Uber-Uber Nerd (whom Ian affectionately calls "Fat T-" declares that it's SUMS's responsibility to keep the room clean. Then they promptly start playing chess like no one's business. I was ticked off, and responded that if they come into this room, it's their responsibility to keep it clean as well.

Who the f#ck does he think he is??? What is he, f$cking 6 years old??? I won't sit and be pushed around like that! And the nerve of those bastards to think that they can act and talk back however they think without consequence!

Okay, I will. Anyway, this is the second *BIG* strike for them towards me. They've already run out of strikes with SUMS, but one more bastard-like attitude-filled prank like that and I'm definitely going to throttle someone. Seriously.

Well, non-physically.

And I'm sure it won't take very much this time around.

Numberical!

Education Career Fair

I walked around the Shatner Ballroom today with booths set up all around and about a hundred students rushing to each of these tables. Some were wildly eager to start teaching in Ontario or overseas or even somewhere in the states. Another bunch were highly vehement and crazily hogging the Montreal et environs tables. My own aspirations were rather silly. I was probably the only handful of students who went to central quebec to hand in a CV. Funny thing happened though...

"Are you looking to work in our school board? Are you familiar with us?"

"Yes..."

"Would you like to leave us your CV?"

"Sure..."

"Would you like to have an interview with us today?"

"Uh... okay..."

So at 2:00 p.m. I was sitting in the interview room, completely unprepared and ready to explode. What the crap am I doing here? I thought. Since when was I ever ready for interviews? Well, never... since this is probably the first one I've officially had.

It went generally well... except for a few details I am very reluctant to speak about. On top of that, I think I came across as a total tool. :(

I'll go bury myself under my bed now. Come get me when the lease is over...

Happy Chinese (Lunar) New Year!

A tradition I belive that should be kept until the moon collapses onto the earth. Woot!

I would like to extend my family in Quebec and my sister in Montreal a happy new year, just because I won't see them until Friday or Saturday. I'll be heading to Quebec City for the while to revel in the lovely homemade meals of new year that my mum makes... mmm..

Anyway, one thing that got us (in Montreal) riled up was the Metro flyer of the week. Amazingly enough, Metro decides to have a little box in the flyer with a special for "Le nouvel an chinois" and a set of groceries that would be used to celebrate this occasion.

Namely, Uncle Ben's, VH, and Wong Wing.

Normally, I would forgive the Uncle Ben's for anytime outside of this time of year, but seriously: UNCLE BEN'S???

Yesterday was supposedly the day we finish off the meat in the fridge and have a good meal with people. Today is the day we are supposed to be eating no meat. I think this is the way it's done... I'll have to check online later.

Ivo came over yesterday and we partook a meal of porkchops (leftover) and souvlaki from Villa du souvlaki down the street. We played darts, cards, watched Inu Yasha... the usual bit. :)

Today, I woke up at noon (as usual) and had a veggie brekkie (which is the usual toast).

Then, about an hour ago, I suggested we make the last bag of disgusting "cheddar" popcorn by Orville Redenbacher. How kind of my brother to give me such a fantastic present, one so terrific that he refused to eat it (out of disgustingness)!

Anyway, I was asked at one point a few weeks ago (by whom I forget) why I didn't use the popcorn setting on the fine dinky microwave of mine. I replied that it was because I don't trust those settings. So naturally, I decided to use that setting today to test the bag.

I was shocked that the setting only gives ~2:30 minutes to pop all the kernels in the bag. I added on about forty seconds, and let the thing pop. The more pressing matter was that the bag is too large for the rotating plate to turn it inside the square interior, so I had to watch it not burn.

It burned. But not as bad as that other time... *_*

Anyway, it turns out that the bag is way too big to be completely popped in three minutes or so. In fact, half the bag of kernels didn't even get anywhere near popped status! I was pissed off, but I took it out anyway to survey the quantity. There were so many left that I decided to pop them on the stove.

You might not think it's such a big deal, but I have never done it nor has anyone in my house ever done this. So I was going nuts when I stuck the first kernel in the hot oil...

"It's not doing anything!"

fizz...

"It's not doing anything!"

fizz...

"It's not doing - " *POP!* "OH HOLY CRAP!!!"

I chucked the rest of them into the pot and things suddenly came to life! I had popcorn flying around, streaming about like little comets! (Yes, I had a lid. Yes, I'm exaggerating.)

Anyway, this popcorn experience was so wonderful I decided to share it with the rest of you bored readers. If you weren't bored, I'm sure you're bored by now.

Now, to fix my CV for the upcoming Education Career Fair on Monday...

There is some hope for me yet...

In the meantime, some people have way too much time to make up such jokes. Personally, I have never heard such kind of reputation attributed to the instrument, but I only knew two people personally who played it.

Speaking of instruments, this one is completely playable. Maybe if the first job doesn't pan out, I could start building my own models... but this is highly doubtful.

Something silly, that I suppose I am obliged to talk about - considering my obsession. Courtesy of FARK.com, and Jorgh, for bringing this up:
New Jersey picks an official state fruit.

Seriously, it's more of a political public show than something I would complain about, and it's from the states so I don't really care that much.

I can't believe I'm still at McGill.

These days pass like a bad reminder of how crappily I screwed up last semester. *sigh*

If anything I swear I will make you-damn pay for all this torture. Every one of my students will never seen you-damn in a good light. No matter how many ads they see, or promotional material, or newspaper/magazine/television reviews, articles, etc., they will take you-damn into their fists and shake it in the air with discriminatory defiance and vow vengeance to all who dares to take on THE Ms C.

Heh.

On another note, I forgot to upload more photos during the break so I'm doing that right now.

Happy New Year!

Currently I am in Chicoutimi, having spent a lovely holiday in Quebec City with my dear family and one crazy afternoon skiing for the second time in my life (on the 29th). And I hurt everywhere still. The moral of the story is: never go skiing.

In other news, I took a lot of pictures, mostly really bad, but I'll be putting them up slowly on the photo archives for your general perusal. There should be a few up there right now.

Ta!
